Hard-hitting Gundy Hawkettes prove they're no easy beats

The Goondiwindi Hawkettes travelled to Dalby to take on the Toowoomba Tigers on Saturday.

They lost.

BUT, the relatively young and inexperienced side showed touches of brilliance, some brutal power and enough grit and determination, to show they will improve in leaps and bounds, and quickly.

And they will certainly have opposition players looking out of the corner of their eye after some bruising clashes on Saturday.

Goals were an all-Ash affair.

Tracey Ash kicked one while niece, Teenie scored two.

Coach Steve Ash said the Hawkettes were improving all the time and he couldn't be prouder of their efforts.

The Hawkettes and the Hawks now have a bye. They next play at Riddles Oval on August 8. They take on South Burnett.

Hawks' President Rob Mackenzie has urged all supporters to come along.

"The Hawkettes have certainly made a difference to home games and we are excited to have them back."
