Goondiwindi Regional Mayor enjoys Parkes Elvis Festival

Our Mayor may have been asking, 'Do you know who I am'? but we're not 'the fool'... that 'stranger in the crowd' at the Parkes Elvis Festival was none other than Graeme Scheu.

The 'big boss man' and his 'little darlin', Coral, went along to the five-day 'party' for the first time. Now in it's 28th year the festival continues to grow with more than 200 events. There were 27,000 visitors and over 170 shows so it's understandable there was some "difficulty getting accommodation".

The event has everything from dancing to rock n roll lessons, barefoot bowls, market stalls, performances, parades and everything in between. Competitions include best dressed and of course the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest.

The Scheus also had the chance to meet original Wiggle Greg Page and see him perform. He was compare of the talent quest on day one. Ironically, during his last performance he collapsed on stage. His medical episode at the end of the original Wiggles' bushfire relief concert was well publicised at the weekend. "He is an unreal fellow," Graeme said.
