Goondiwindi's Bringing Employers and Schools Together group host inaugural dinner at Gateway To Training

The Goondiwindi BEST Group held its inaugural industry dinner at Gateway To Training (GTT) with over 50 students, parents, employers and educators in attendance.

The Bringing Employers and Schools Together group formed in 2019 with the purpose to build cooperative relationships between local educational institutions and industries and businesses.

The industry focus for the evening was the construction, engineering and ag technology sectors. Local business representatives from Suhr Builders, RJ Hanna Constructions, Proterra Group, Fulton Hogan and Goondiwindi Communications shared their insights of their industry.

As well as gaining an understanding of career pathways and job opportunities, the students from Goondiwindi State High School, Border Rivers Christian College and Boggabilla Central School heard firsthand the expectations of employers and the importance of contributing to a safe and supportive workplace culture.

The Goondiwindi BEST Group were delighted with the success of their inaugural event and planning is already underway for 2020 events.

Local employers are encouraged to contact GTT on info@gttc.com.au if they would like more information on how to be involved with this innovative program.
