"Commando Steve" the tough-as-teak taskmaster from the Biggest Loser is on his way to Goondiwindi. And all due Goondiwindi resident Terri-Anne Thompson.
"Early one morning, about 4am when only the crazies are awake," Terri-Anne thought getting someone, with the profile of Commando Steve (Willis), out to Goondiwindi would be a good way to boost the spirits of a community hit by drought.
The response was quick, and after speaking to him recently (we'll have more on that in the coming weeks) comes as no surprise. "I'd love to come out," he told Terri-Anne. She has joined forces with the Tie up the Black Dog Committee.
"We are being crippled by drought and Tie Up the Black Dog do tremendous work to increase awareness about depression and mental illness especially among farmers. All profits from the event will be donated to this worthy cause," she said. There will be a dinner at the PCYC Riverview Centre and two bootcamps on Saturday, October 4-5. The bootcamps will cater to all fitness levels. Tickets and more information from the PCYC.
