Goondiwindi junior golfer heading to state championships

Bailey Castle takes a big swing.

Bailey Castle is on his way to the state championships next week. Castle recently competed in Darling Downs golf at Middle Ridge, Toowoomba for under 12 years. He played well and received runner-up. He has now been selected to represent the Darling Downs School sport team to compete in the State Champions being held from April 27 to May 1. Castle will play four rounds of golf at Keperra Country Golf Club. As a result of his selection and with the fortunate timing of the school holidays, Castle has been practicing every day at the local golf course that has flourished with the recent rain events. As the saying goes, 'practice pays off' and on Friday it paid dividend with a win in the 10-hole chook run. Keen to back-up his victory Castle then competed in the QLD Hotel monthly mug on Saturday, where he was again victorious. With only a couple of weeks until he competes at state, no doubt he will be on the course at every spare moment hoping to improve his form. Castle and his parents thanked all involved with the Goondiwindi Golf Club who have supported and encouraged him.
