Goondiwindi police kept busy pulling over drug drivers

It was a matter of drugs, drugs and more drugs for Goondiwindi Police over the past week.

At 11.20pm on Tuesday, April 2 police intercepted a vehicle along MacIntyre Street, Goondiwindi. The 31year-old man from Goondiwindi was subjected to a roadside drug test to which he provided a positive result. The male was issued with a driver's licence suspension notice and a Notice to Appear to attend the Goondiwindi Magistrate's Court on June 12.

At 1.20am on Wednesday April 3 police intercepted a vehicle on Kildonan Road, Goondiwindi. The 29year-old woman from Goondiwindi was subjected to a roadside drug test to which she provided a positive result. She was issued with a driver's licence suspension notice and a Notice to Appear to attend the Goondiwindi Magistrate's Court June 12.

About 12am on Thursday, April 4 police intercepted a vehicle driving on Moffatt Street. While police were speaking to the 48year-old woman driver from Boggabilla they allegedly smelt burnt cannabis. The driver was detained and police conducted a search of the vehicle. As a result, police located a bong on the floor of the front passenger seat. When questioned, the woman allegedly gave police different versions of how the bong was in the car, even blaming her partner for leaving it in the car before changing her story and blaming her son. Either way, she was the sole occupant of the vehicle and in possession of the utensil and was charged accordingly. Police issued her with a Notice to Appear before the Goondiwindi Magistrate's Court on May 22.

About 1am on Saturday, April 6 police intercepted a vehicle driving along Albert Street. Police searched the vehicle and a 21year-old passenger from Coomera. They allegedly found a clip seal bag containing about 4.2 grams of cannabis and another clip seal bag containing six blue pills.  The man was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and issued with a Notice to Appear before the Goondiwindi Magistrate's Court on May 22.
