Goondiwindi State Primary School host annual fete

The Gundy State Fantastic Fete is back this weekend!

Held on the school oval, the area comes alive with face painting, rides, sideshow stalls, and all the fun of the fete.

This year's theme is 'Year Of The Pig' so the committee is including a petting zoo and pony rides to add to the fun.

In the lead up to the event students have been searching the grounds for pink pigs. Each pig earns them free tickets for use at the fete.

Kids can also cool off on the Dolphin Splash water slide.

And you can also get yourself some home made cakes and sweets, plants and other yummy food including the Lions barbecue.

Fete coordinator, Anita Smith said there would be fun games for all the family, and entertainment by students and staff including a lip sync battle, dancing and performances by the choir.

"It will truly be a great day out for the whole community," she said.

Students also entered a fete colouring-in/poster competition with the winners receiving prizes of fete tickets.

The winners are: Prep - Thane Anderson Prep M, Year 1 - Bella Castle 1HC, Year 2 - Taylah Rice 2E, Year 3 - Elsie McCarthy 3R, Year 4 - Tayte Hallett 4/5PC, Year 5 - Grace Paeslar 5BC and Year 6 - Chloe James 6A.

All money raised from the fete goes to the P&C committee and all funds raised go back into the school.

At the moment GSPS is fundraising for a revamp of the junior eating area.

"Last year and the year before we redid the Prep area so this is a continuation of that," Anita said.

The fete will be on this Saturday, March 16 from 11am until 3pm.
