Tributes have been been flowing for former Goondiwindi Mayor, Bill Lee.
Mr Lee was the Goondiwindi Town Mayor from 1976 to 1991. He passed away surrounded by family last week.
He was also the town chemist and along with his wife Joanna, were long-time supporters of the performing arts in Goondiwindi. But for many he was most fondly remembered for the addition he added to the Goondiwindi skyline:a home-built steel-fabricated yacht which, more than a few, had doubts would ever see the ocean. They should never have doubted the World War II veteran who was a navigator for a Mosquito fighter-bomber squadron.
Goondiwindi Regional Mayor, Cr Graeme Scheu paid tribute saying Mr Lee was dedicated and committed to the service of the Goondiwindi community. “He was tireless and his work will not be forgotten,” he said. However the tributes have flowed over the past few days. Goondiwindi resident and former neighbour, Ann Raymond: (To the family) Your Dad was a great man, highly respected by members of Goondiwindi Community.

Richard Lane: I had the pleasure of meeting Bill and visiting a number of times. I have great memories of what seemed like Noah’s Ark to a eight year-old in 1986 at the Goondawindi home
