Goondiwindi, Yelarbon, Inglewood to have say on Inland Rail

Goondiwindi, Inglewood and Yelarbon residents will soon be able to have their say about the Inland Rail and the route it takes from NSW into Queensland.

The public can comment on the Draft Terms of Reference for the project from the NSW/QLD Border to Gowrie to the Queensland Coordinator General until  June 18.

Inland Rail Queensland Programme Delivery Manager Rob McNamara said the draft Terms of Reference, when finalised, will set out what ARTC needs to address in the EIS.

“The NSW/QLD Border to Gowrie section of Inland Rail is in the early stages of the Queensland approvals process, and this is the first of two statutory consultation periods for the project, which complement our ongoing consultation activities, including our Community Consultative Committees which have been a great source of information sharing,” Mr McNamara said.

“We will also be engaging with communities to gather their local knowledge and feedback on the project over the next 12-18 months of the approvals and design process.

“I encourage people to take the opportunity to provide input and feedback which will help shape the design of Inland Rail.

“Toowoomba and the Darling Downs stand to benefit from Inland Rail during its construction and operation, and ARTC recognises how important it is that communities contribute to the development of projects in their local area.”

Community information sessions will be hosted by ARTC on the following dates:

·       Wednesday 23 May, 6 – 7.30pm, Yelarbon and District Soldiers Memorial Hall, Yelarbon

·       Thursday 24 May, 6 – 7.30pm, Inglewood Civic Centre, Inglewood
