Kaloma Home for the Aged is calling for iPods to create personalised playlists for its elderly patients

Research shows that music is a powerful tool in the lives of the elderly. And Kaloma Home for the Aged is doing all it can to ensure that its residents lives are enhanced by it.

In an effort to ensure that residents have playlists with the music of their choice, the home is calling for donations of iPods, nanos or iPod shuffles that may no longer be in use. The personalised playlists will go a long way to making people’s lives a little bit more fulfilling as music has been found to help the elderly, including those who have chronic cognitive and physical repairment such as dementia.

These forgotten gadgets will be used to create playlists for Kaloma residents in the hope of triggering their fondest memories.
