The  Boars take on Pittsworth this Saturday for the first home game of the season. Kick off at 3.30pm. The Goondiwind Club has urged all league fans to come along and cheer on the Boars.

There’s plenty of excitement about the new-look Boars. Here’s why.

Andrew Hoggart - Front row: Spent a few seasons in Redcliffe Dolphins junior system and headed south in 2016 to Griffith NSW (Group 20) where he had two seasons culminating with a premiership in  first grade. His size will be a welcome addition to the side.

Tyrell McCullagh - Hooker: Crafty hooker who has come across from Souths and was named in the TRL team of the year in 2017. Has been described by some as  being the buy of the season.

Matt Gardner - Centre: Former UK Super League (Leeds, Huddersfield) outside back who the Boars will look to for his big match experience and leadership. Represented an England academy versus Penrith Panthers academy side  earlier in his career. Has also represented Brazil in Rugby 7s.

Joel Currie - Hooker, Halfback, Lock: Talented utility who can slot into a number of positions. Has played for Norths Devils in the FOGS Cup, Valleys in the Brisbane Rugby League and also represented Toowoomba Clydesdales Under 20s.

Kriton Paletaoga: The man they call ‘Ironfist’. Easts Tigers colt in 2016 who took 2017 off to go to boxing. Has been described by a league writer  as a tearaway wrecking ball. At 195cm and 125kg he will prove a handful.
