Callandoon Street markets raise funds for Macintyre Pet Rescue

Callandoon Street was a hub of activity on Saturday, with mini markets, music and more to celebrate the opening of Kiaha Sewell’s new store Decor & More.

“It was such a great day. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Lots of laughs and smiles,” Ms Sewell said.

“I really could not have asked for a better outcome.”

Almost $200 was raised for Macintyre Pet Rescue (MAPR) with a barbecue on the day.

Hosted by a variety of local businesses, every stand made sales or took orders.

“It was great exposure for them all,” Ms Sewell said. She said the atmosphere was relaxing, and locals were content to stroll through.

“People took their time to look through and ask questions. Stall owners were able to really explain their products and how it was all going when asked,” she said.

Face painting was popular among the youngsters, while Anna Kriel from Okavango Leather put her skills to work, helping them make bookmarks.

“Sage Welsh – her singing was amazing. Her voice was just beautiful and the right kind of music for the day. It really did top it off,” Ms Sewell said.
