Queensland Government prepares interim report into waste investigation

The Queensland Government announced a three month independent investigation regarding waste transportation into Queensland on August 15.

Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection Steven Miles has appointed the Honourable Peter Lyons to lead the investigation in accordance with the terms of reference. The investigation seeks to understand the financial, economic and regulatory drivers that are giving rise to the transport of waste into Queensland.

An interim report is to be provided to Queensland Government by October 18, 2017, with a final report due by November 17, 2017.

The investigation invites submissions from interested persons, including key stakeholders in the recycling and waste industry. The closing date for submissions is 3pm, September 26, 2017.
