Farming easier with new apps

Northern growers and agronomists are being encouraged to utilise on-the-go digital apps developed by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) to help guide decision making in the paddock.

A guide to winter cereal crop nutrition, herbicide injury and weed and insect identification are some of the popular apps now available as part of the GRDC UteGuide.

GRDC Business Intelligence Manager Tom McCue said the apps had been designed specifically for growers and agronomists for mobile access to vital, technical information to aid on-farm decision making and allow for fast diagnosis of issues in the paddock.

“Digital resources are rapidly evolving to become one of the most valuable tools for the Australian grains industry,” he said. “They are the way of the future, enabling growers to instantaneously access up-to-date technical information to assist in crop management decisions and improve productivity. The information could be particularly relevant this season given the variety of conditions being experienced.”
