The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is encouraging all interested landowners and communities in the Darling Downs to attend any of its upcoming community information sessions to learn about the NSW/QLD Border to Gowrie Inland Rail project.
ARTC Queensland Project Deliver Manager for Inland Rail Rob McNamara said there were multiple stages of approval for ARTC to move through and the local community’s input into each of these stages is vital.
“We have been very pleased with the attendance at the information sessions we held around the Darling Downs in October with around 500 people attending.
“As planned, we are hosting more information sessions in November to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to meet our team, discuss Inland Rail and hear about the benefits it will bring to the region.
“The November information sessions will cover essentially the same information as the October sessions.
“The sessions are just the start of our consultation. Community Consultative Committees will be formed before the end of the year with nominations open now.
“These Committees are a great way for the community to engage with us for the lifecycle of the project and we encourage individuals and organisation representatives to nominate to become members.
“These information sessions will provide more details about the preferred study corridor and our future work within the two km study corridor.
“ARTC will keep communities and landholders informed of opportunities to provide input and project progress through regular updates, workshops and information sessions,” he said.
Information sessions will be held in the following locations:
- 6pm - 8pm, Tuesday 14 November 2017, Inglewood Civic Centre, 18 Elizabeth Street, Inglewood.
- 6pm - 8pm, Wednesday 15 November 2017, Millmerran Cultural Centre, 45 Walpole Street, Millmerran.
- 6pm - 8pm, Thursday 16 November 2017, Yelarbon and District Soldiers Memorial Hall, Taloom Street, Yelarbon.
