Goondiwindi drivers targeted for traffic offences

Police intercepted a vehicle on the Cunningham Highway, Goondiwindi in relation to high speed driving on November 9.

Police spoke with a 24-year-old male driver of a Wilcannia address at 2.50pm.

Police have subsequently issued the male driver with an infringement notice for high speed driving (40km/hr and over) in the 100km/hr zone and the driver had the vehicle immobilised for a period of seven days. The monetary penalty attached to the infringement totalled $1177. 

Later that evening, at around 7.10pm, police stopped a vehicle on Boundary Road Goondiwindi.

Police have spoken to a 19-year-old male driver who was failed a roadside breath test. The provisional driver was transported to Goondiwndi Police Station where he has provided a breath analysis reading of 0.046 per cent.

The male driver was issued with a 24 hour licence suspension and was issued with Notice to Appear for the matter. 

An hour later police intercepted another vehicle on the same road. Police spoke with a 21-year-old male driver of a Goodar address.

The provisional driver has failed a roadside breath test and was transported to Goondiwindi Police Station where the male driver has provided a breath analysis of 0.036 per cent.

The male driver was issued with a Notice to Appear for the matter and had his licence suspended for 24 hours. 

On November 10, at around 1am, Police have intercepted a vehicle on Albert Street Goondiwindi. Police have spoken to a 28-year-old male driver of an Inverell address.

The male driver has failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the Goondiwindi Police Station where he provided a breath analysis reading of 0.069 per cent.

The male driver had his licence suspended for 24 hours and was issued with a Notice to Appear for the matter.

At around 4am on November 11 Police attended Kildonan Road Goondiwindi in relation to a single vehicle traffic accident. Police have arrived and spoken to the driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old male of a Goondiwindi address.

The male driver was uninjured however returned a positive roadside breath test. The male driver was transported to the Goondiwindi Police Station where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.161 per cent.

The male driver had his licence suspended until court and was issued with a Notice to Appear for high range drink driving.
