When Inverell hosted their first ladies event in the Gaukrogers Holden Scramble on Wednesday, local golfers Jenny Doolin, Di Uebergang, Jane Bush and Mary Herde decided to join the action.

The regional section of the NSW ambrose competition attracted 56 competitors from towns including Moree, Armidale and Glen Innes, totaling 14 teams of four players each.

“We play as a team in the Holden Scrambles a lot,” Ms Herde said. “It’s a nice way to see other courses and meet new people.

“Hopefully the other ladies team will also come to Goondiwindi in May when we host the Holden Scramble.”

Glen Innes emerged as the day’s victors and are now set to travel to the Hunter Valley for the finals in February 2018.
