The Goondiwindi Under 16 Boars are the Warwick and District Premiers. And it was done under trying conditions after the Goondiwindi camp was rocked by news of an accident.

A Goondiwindi family heading up to to grand finals was involved.

“Congratulations to our Under 16s who under trying circumstances forged ahead and played a full 60 minutes of good, hard football against Collegians Junior Rugby League Club - Warwick Under 16's Blue.

“The boys were victorious, bringing home the cup with a win of 24-16,” Club President Jess Ogle said.

“The Goondiwindi Junior Rugby League wase named Club Champions again this year. Congratulations to all!”

Brenton Clement was named player of the match after scoring three tries in first half. Best players Jed Kindt, Torben Milton, Darcy Harris and Mark Brown.  Celebrating the win as well were the coaching staff of Peter Bouchier, Jamie Deans and Patto.

Due to the accident the Millmerran-Inglewood-Texas Jets and Goondiwindi  were named joint-premiers. In the girls tag league, the Tenterfield Tigers were poised to take on Goondiwindi.  The game was postponed but yesterday the Goondiwindi decided not to contest the match. “Our girls have graciously decided not to contest the premiership. As a club we couldn't be prouder of the compassion shown by our Leaguetag team and the maturity they have shown giving up a chance at a premiership out of respect and love for members of our Gundy Boars family,” the Club said. Goondiwindi was named Club Champions.
