The Boars ran out of puff aginst Souths on Sunday in Toowoomba. With an injury toll that keeps mounting, they were without halfback Adam Tribe and Ronnie David. But the boys put it to Souths in an entertaining and competitive game. Souths hit the scoreboard first but the Boars bounced back after Will Carter sliced through the line off the back of a scrum. Matthew Galvin worked tirelessly in defence which got the Boars going forward where they managed to force Souths into multiple dropouts. However they weren’t able to convert that pressure into points. Souths scored against the run of play but the Boars hit back when Craig Sharpley put in a chip,  regathered and found Brandon Sharpley in support. The second half began badly and Souths kept the Boars on the backfoot. But once again the defence held and when Souths went for a grubber kick, fullback Will Carter cut off the kick and raced the full length of the field. With only 8 points in it the Boars had a chance. Stewart Lowe took over the kicking duties and constantly got Goondiwindi out of trouble with his booming kicks. He nailed a massive 40-20 kick and it looked like the Boars were on a roll. Unfortunately they ran out of puff and Souths skipped away to win. The Boars are at home on Sunday.
