BreastScreen mobile coming to Mungindi, Dirranbandi and Bollon in May

A BreastScreen mobile bus is coming to Mungindi, Dirranbandi and Bollon in May .

Women aged 40 and over are being encouraged to make their health a priority in 2017 and book in for a free breast screen.

Health promotion officer Nicola Garrett said the BreastScreen Queensland Toowoomba digital mobile service would be at Mungindi Hospital on May 16-17, Dirranbandi Hospital from May 18-20 and the Bollon Community Clinic, Main Street Bollon, on  May 22.

. “We have two digital mobile services which visit locations throughout the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service, and beyond, on a two yearly cycle,” Ms Garrett said.

“If you’re a woman aged 40 and over, and you’ve been planning to have your first breast screen, or are due for a two-yearly screen, call today on 13 20 50 to book an appointment.

“One in eight Queensland women will develop breast cancer in their life, with 90 per cent having no family history of the illness.

“A breast screen every two years is the best way to detect breast cancer early, well before you or your doctor can feel anything.

“It’s fast, it’s free for women aged 40 and over, and it could save your life.” Ms Garrett said it was easier than ever to make an appointment with bookings now available online.

“Simply log-on to www.breastscreen.qld.gov.au and follow the prompts,” she said.

“If you need help completing the online registration call 13 20 50 and a member of our team will be happy to walk you through the process.

” Women aged 40 and over should phone 13 20 50, or make an appointment online, to book a free breast screen. A doctor’s referral is not required and appointments generally take less than 30 minutes.
