Race in to give St Mary’s some love

What happens when you put card and board game-playing fanatics Denise McCormack and Fr Michael O’Brien together?

Well, perhaps surprisingly, a  good idea.

It’s the 80th anniversary of the St  Mary’s Church and it needs a little ‘love”.

Which is where Denise came in.

Her idea? A race day to help raise money for to give the church a facelift.

And what a day it’s going to be.

Not least because Fr Michael is has agreed to get the ice bucket treatment.

You’ll just have to pay some good money for the honour.

She’ll also be auctioning off some “tradies”. See main story at right.

“We want this race day to be a relaxed, casual family fun day filled with colour,” Denise said.

“The dress code is sticking to that theme, so forget your fascinators and six-inch heels and go for comfy.”

There will be jumping castles, hobby horse racing, ice cream truck, water buckets and water pistols. (We are assuming that’s not for the big kids?)
