Goondiwindi’s Flemington Fling for the 2016 Melbourne Cup, on November 1, is off to a galloping start once again this year celebrating community, racing and style.

After the huge success of the 2015 event, this year is set to be even better with addition of a great committee representing Kaloma, Botanic Gardens and CARE Goondiwindi.

As always, this day is a great opportunity to support three incredible community organisations, all whilst enjoying the atmosphere of a gourmet luncheon set in the beautiful botanic gardens.

Committee member Bruce McCollum highlighted the event’s move to the Goondiwindi Botanic Gardens.

“It will be great opportunity to celebrate a wonderful day in a fantastic community location.”

With last year’s funds distributed, Goondiwindi District Day Care and Kaloma received $2800 funds each, credit to the 2015 event with the valued support of the 2015 Gold Sponsors National Australia Bank Goondiwindi, Fox and Thomas, Air Care and of course all those who attended.

“Not only is the day a chance to celebrate an iconic Australian Race, it also gives us a chance to celebrate and support these community organisations,” said Erin Corish.

“These organisations give so much to our region and it’s nice to be able to give back – all while sipping on champagne of course.”

With over 130 people attending last year’s event, the committee are hoping that with a new location, new sponsors and a new committee, this year’s event will be even better.

“With the chance to win a pair of pearl earrings by David Benn Fine Jewellery valued at $1500, and the amazing support of sponsors Wood’s Group, Suede Goondiwindi, Mackenzie’s Home Hardware, Gibson’s Butchery, Allen’s Pharmacy and Border Living Magazine, the 2016 event is shaping up to be as good, if not better than last year’s event.”

Fashion on the Field prizes, raffles, gourmet lunch, complimentary glass of champagne, sweeps, stalls and a fashion parade, the 2016 Flemington Fling will not disappoint. Tickets are $30 each or $25 if booked in a group of ten, and are available from Nutmeg Home and Suede Goondiwindi or by emailing
