Karma strikes quick at cricket

Was it karma? Young gun cricket allrounder Sam Turvey was excited on Saturday. He was trotting out his new $700 bat which he has looked after like Ming Dynasty vase for the three months that he has had it.

Waiting for the big day when he would use it for the first time. So imagine his horror when he faced up to old stager Ian Jones on Saturday and hit a straight slow full toss straight back, only to see a piece of the bat go further than the shot.

But a few overs later karma played her part. Sam received a ball  down leg-side which he dispatched over the square-leg boundary, straight into the windscreen of an old battered Landcruiser. You guessed it. It belonged to the bowler. To make matters worse All Whites captain Jake Pearce had only just smashed one onto the bonnet. Maybe that’s what the old fella gets for swapping to play for the Hawkss.
