The Goondiwindi Regional Council has an important question. Who is your Australian Day Citizenss of the Year. And that goes for Goondiwindi and the Inglewood/Texas regions.

“Every year we have to remind people about these important awards,” GRC Mayor, Cr Graeme Scheu said. “We want to get people thinking now,” he said. More than that Council wants nominations. The closing date for entries is November 30.

“If you know of a resident, organisation or event who give significantly to our communities, then nominate them for an Australia Day Award.  “Nomination forms are available from Council’s website or by visiting your Customer Service Office,” Cr Scheu said. Categories and last year’s winners:

Citizen of the Year:  Clive Quartermaine; Young Citizen of the Year:  Wendy Litherland; Senior Sports Award:  David William Wild; Junior Sports Award:  Joel Stahlhut; Sports Administrator/Coach:  Esther Cahill; Community Event:  Rotary District Conference; Cultural Award:  No Award
