It all gets underway at 12pm at Gilbert Oval.
Indigenous Community Sport and Recreation Program Officer, Sarah Ellis from the Goondiwindi PCYC, is involved with the PaCE Committee.
She said the Goondiwindi Amazing Race Community Challenge is a great opportunity to bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous families from Goondiwindi, Texas, Boggabilla and Toomelah together.
“The project aims to raise awareness and understanding of local Indigenous culture and history through an activity-based day of fun, learning and entertainment,” she said.

Transport will be available for people coming from Boggabilla and Toomelah so that you can get into Goondiwindi for the event, and home again at the end of the night.

BBQ Lunch for all participants.
1.30pm - Gilbert Oval Session 1 – Challenges including touch football, 10 pin bowling, Indigenous games.
2.30pm - Bus takes participants to Botanical Gardens.
2.40pm - Botanical Gardens
Session 2 - Challenges including canoeing, carp trap demos, Indigenous language, treasure hunts.
3.40pm - Bus takes participants to Community Gardens.
4pm - Community Gardens, afternoon tea and session 3 - Challenges including obstacle course, wheelbarrow races, tepee making, find-a-plant.
5.15pm - Gilbert Oval
Bus takes participants back to Gilbert Oval.
6.00pm - Gilbert Oval. Participant team passports are checked and verified and barbecue dinner and entertainment.
7pm - Gilbert Oval. Winners announced, prizes awarded and thanking of sponsors.
