Diggers news

08 Feb, 2012 11:54 AM
A good roll up on Sunday with most swimmers more interested in watching the mighty fit hell of the west competitors than swimming the gruelling Diggers schedule!

One swimmer wished he did only watch the tri......three strokes into his swim, disaster struck as he sustained a dislocated shoulder!

The ambulance manoeuvred through an obstacle course to rescue the injured swimmer who could only blame the hardness of the water and the fierceness of the competition for his injury! Under duress he withdrew from the breaststroke. The rest of the team, out of respect for the injured, opted to cancel the last event of the day and have coffee.

Winners of the week: Kid’s 50m was won by Mikayla Bourke. Brace relay won by Macey Prior and Ebony Clarence.

Ladies: 50m won by Chrissy Lane who teamed up with Lisa James to win the brace relay as well.

Men’s: 50m won by Matt “Fast” Lane with Prune Prior hoping 4 of the 5 swimmers busted. The men’s brace was won by Jason Ross and Tom Rixon.

Showing off in front of the triathletes this week was Sonia Prior, Macey Prior and Ebony Clarence all recording busts.

Best of luck to Mark Baker and Lisa James who are off to Ballina for the zone swim next weekend.

Diggers will be back at the Railway Hotel this Friday night selling tickets on 40 pots.

If your new year’s resolution was to get fit and have fun it is not too late to join the club. See you next Sunday at 9a.m.

Flipper.
