A very busy Saturday saw the shotgun range backfilled until we ran out of daylight -certainly makes a difference.
We should be able to map out the skeet range with a little bit more filling.
The uprights have been concreted in for the rifle benchrest bay.
Next job will be the concreting of the floor.
Many thanks from the club to those that threw in a day’s work - Fred Garland, Ray and Michael Dudgeon, Ben Eisel, Tom Donald and Brett Luckman who drove his tip truck and bobcat all the way down from Caboolture. A wonderful effort.
One noticeable incident on the day was when the hoe on the backhoe tried to take out the passenger door on the truck that delivered the uprights, (another donation by Blask Engineering who have contibuted much to the range development over the last few years).
There was no mention of who was driving the backhoe, but methinks it was the president again.
There was a dual clay event held on Sunday with the following results:
1st Tom Donald
2nd Ray Dudgeon
3rd Scruffy Morgan
The pistol practice is producing some good scores.
Richard Burbidge from Yelarbon, our eldest member, is shooting very consistently and Ray Dudgeon is getting up there.
If he can keep them all on the target.
I heard that cunning Scruffy is hosting a couple of good looking backpakers on the range next Sunday.
We are expecting a good roll up for this.
This will be about the fifth lot of overseas visitors to the range, and hopefully the members will make them most welcome as they have done in the past.
Ray Dudgeon did a good job cooking for the workers on Saturday.
Pity he did not wait for the steaks to thaw, nothing like a ball of steak barbequed in one lump, just pass it around and everyone can take a bite, cook it a bit more and pass it around again. All was enjoyed.
We have a Seneca Run scheduled for 9a.m start on Sunday.
We can follow this up with a clay shoot. All visitors welcome to have a go.
See you on Sunday
