High scores for weekend golfers

High scores reflecting the continuing dry weather were a feature of the weekend’s games at the Goondiwindi Golf Course.

Leading the charge on Saturday were Richard Siddins and Peter Cook, who both recorded 42 stableford points.

Richard was declared the winner after he beat Peter on a countback.

Nearest the pins: 10th: Richard Siddins (2.3m); 15th: Richard Leske (5.25m); 18th: Marcus Arthur (2.6m – 9 balls).

The ball comp went down to 37 points and winners were: Richard Siddins, Harold Clayton, Marcus Arthur, Don McKenzie, Peter Cook, Pablo Vega, Bryan Meenin and Gerard O’Connor.

David Jackson kept up the pressure in Sunday’s 18 hole stableford with 41 points.

Nearest to him was Tony Lloyd with 39 on a countback.

Nearest the pins: 10th: Gerard O’Connor (3.9m); 15th: Mark Everingham (3.9m); 18th: Tony Lloyd (5.77m).

The ball comp went down to 37 points and winners were: Marcus Arthur, David Jackson, Marty Lynch, Mark Everingham, Richard Siddins and Tony Lloyd.

Wednesday’s Vets played a two-man Ambrose on Wednesday and winners were Clarrie Hillard and Marcus Arthur with 34¼.

Runners-up were Harold Clayton and John Moulton with 37¼.

Nearest the pins: 4th hole, 2 nd shot A: Skinner; 4th hole, 3rd shot B: Iris Guyer (56cm); 6th hole, 2nd shot A: Harold Clayton (32cm); 6th hole, 2nd shot B: Margaret Donovan (37cm).

Thursday’s Sporters winner was Paul Lynch with 21 points.

Runner-up was Don McKenzie with 20.

Ball comp went down to 19 points and winners were: Tom Biggers, Matt Bauman, Darryl Murphy, Kev Sewell, Jim McCall and Richard Glasson.

Nearest the pins: Pro Pin: Mark Everingham; A Grade: Richard Glasson (5.03m); B Grade: Darryl Murphy (1.8m).

Friday’s Chook Run winners were: John Guyer 29, M. Lawless 28, Deidre Harris 28, John Castle 27, Margaret Donovan 26, John Stehr 26, Lenore Coupe 25, Richard Siddins 25 and Craig Spicer 25,

Nearest the pins: A Grade: Gerard O’Connor; B Grade: John Toohey.
