IT’S taken almost two seasons, but the Goondiwindi Colts’ cricket team broke its drought on Saturday.
The young guns of Goondiwindi cricket rolled Boomi for 103 and hit the winning runs with six wickets and 25 overs in hand.
Eighteen year-old Shane Wolfenden was the star with the ball taking 3-5 in an aggresive spell of fast bowling while 13 year-old opening batsman Matt North was the mainstay with the bat scoring 29.
He fell with just three runs to get.
It was a good reward for the young Colts’ team which has come close to winning against some of the more vaunted teams in the competition over the past six weeks but have fallen short.
In other games Macintyre proved too strong for Border-Tarawera and All Whites led by old stagers Sam Dight and Brian Steer, downed reigning premiers Railways.
