IT was a bumper start for junior cricketers on Saturday.
Cricketers were eager as a beavers to get into the swing of things. Fantastic cricket was watched by parents and bystanders on Saturday as enthusiastic cricketers strode in to wrestle for a win.
Results in the Intermediate division were: Team 4 took their first massive win crushing Team 2’s effort.
Outstanding batting went to Aidan Doolan notching up 39 runs from 39 deliveries.
New comer to the team, Matt Price played well for his first game of the season in intermediate.
Team 2 tried hard with Sam Turvey hitting 23 runs together with Will Archer bowling one wicket for six runs from three overs.
At the Golf Club saw Team 1 take out Team 3 by 25 runs. While a few ducks were witnessed on the day, Team 1 player Hamish Tyter batted consistently making 23 runs from 35 deliveries. Luke Ford from Team 1 also played well taking one wicket for five runs from three overs.
Over in Team 3’s camp, bowlers found it difficult to move Ned Hollis from the crease. Ned notched up eight runs, not out.
Fantastic bowling from Jed Kindt taking two wickets for 11 runs from three overs. Keep it up, Jed and Ned.
In the Junior Division, Team 3 defeated Team 1 with an average of 68. Daniel Vega smashed 14 runs, including hitting an eight and a four from 12 deliveries. Angus Archer and Jack Waugh teamed together and took a wicket. Keep it up boys! Team 1 fought hard with Henry Hardcastle showing lots of enthusiasm making ten runs for his team.
While Tom Hannah took the only wicket for his team, well done Tom.
Over at the Union grounds, Team 4 ended with a huge win finishing with an average of 60.
Declan Rice batted well making 14 runs from 12 balls, while team mate Harry Crothers fielded well taking a run out on the day. Team 2 player, Hamish Dight had an excellent day making nine runs, while Sam Butler took the only wicket for his team on Saturday morning.
All the best to the Under 14 Representative side travelling to Toowoomba on Sunday for their first Rep game of 2012.
