The weather has not been kind, yet there have been up to 40 blokes at training.
Super coach Kyle ‘Killer’ White has entrusted the experience of former top line player and highly credentialed coach in his own right Scott Schultz, who is currently on teaching duties in Goondiwindi, to pass on some of his experience at Friday night training runs.
Even though it is hard yakka at this stage of the season, the players are very appreciative of Scott’s help as they learn new drills and ball handling skills, which have the players actually enjoying training.
With the later start to the TRL fixture season this year, the Boars have got three trial games organised for March, with the first game being only three weeks away against Narrabri.
This game will be on Saturday, March 3, here in Goondiwindi.
This is the same weekend the fixture season started last year.
Remember while touch is on training is on Tuesday and Friday nights at 6pm, there is no more important date than this Friday night, February 10.
This is the Boars’ official sign-on meet and greet night, with training at 6pm, followed by a BBQ and a few quiet drinks.
All players, sponsors and supporters are very welcome to attend. With the Boars much-anticipated entry into the TRL C-Grade competition in 2012, it is very important that any intending players come along and make their intentions known. The Boars have nominated to play in the C-Grade competition, however they are still to finalise their acceptance and this is totally dependent on player numbers.
If early indications are anything to go on, the Boars will be there with bells on.
With regards to reserve grade, the club is still to settle on a 2012 coach.
There have been a number of potential coaches come forward and the decision will be made shortly. Remember, there are only three weeks until the first game.
Under 18s will once again be coached by super coach Kyle White, and what a side it is shaping up to be.
The majority of the side will be made up of last year’s boys, with a year’s experience under their belts.
On a representative note, we would like to wish Callum Skinner, Reggie McIntosh, Linden McGrady, Dexter Hutt and Brandon McGrady all the best in their upcoming games. Once again, if you have any interest in playing a game in 2012, make sure you’re at Gilbert Oval on Friday night at 6pm. The Club looks forward to seeing all fans there.
