Vets and railway workers give koala second chance

29 Jul, 2010 10:04 AM
Some railway workers found a three-quarter grown male koala at Crooble near Croppa Creek recently.

“The Border Vet Surgery used to have koalas in fairly commonly, but this is the first one for quite a few years now, so we are all pretty excited.

“He was found after a horrible windy, rainy night

“He was curled up, wet and miserable on arrival,” said Mac. The koala was x-rayed and no obvious fractures were found, but he is being treated with anti-biotics. He seems much brighter and is eating which is something they often won’t do in hospital,” he said. He will hopefully be released back to Crooble sometime this week.
