Two survive head-on crash near Boggabilla

24 Feb, 2010 11:46 AM
BOGGABILLA Police and Emergency Services from Goondiwindi and Boggabilla attended a two-vehicle accident on the Bruxner Highway early on Tuesday morning.

The collision occurred half a kilometre south of the Boggabilla Central School in a 100km zone.

It took Emergency Services crews more than an hour to free a 50 year-old woman who was trapped in the wreckage of her car.

She was transported to the Goondiwindi Hospital and was later airlifted to the Princess Alexandria Hospital in Brisbane. She is in a stable condition.

Inspector Chris Styles of Moree Police said it was a horrific accident and he expected the injuries to be worse than they actually were.

“They had a very lucky escape, it could have been a lot worse,” Inspector Styles said.

The female driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene for minor cuts and bruisers.

Police are not commenting on the cause of the accident as their investigations are still ongoing.

They have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact the Boggabilla Police on 46719299.
