The new equipment at the Sandhurst Street playground is a huge hit with the children.
They’re there in droves to have a go. Most popular was the flying fox, which snaps back at the end of its run with most satisfactorily, although the giant rope climbing tower was a short second.
“The old equipment posed too much of a risk, and it had to go,” said Goondiwindi Regional Council Deputy Mayor Rick Kearney.
“I think we’ve found the right balance between excitement and safety,” he said.
“It providing healthy, challenging outdoor activities for the town’s children.”
The new equipment cost $138,000, but then who can put a price on the smile on a little child’s face?
There are no plans for a similar park in Inglewood, and Cr Kearney pointed out Texas already a similar facility with their partly council-funded All Abilities Park.
“It’s pretty good fun,” said Storm Knight, 8, before giving his brother another shove on the flying fox.
