 An evening with Wayne Bennett

An evening with Wayne Bennett

18 Nov, 2009 11:31 AM
THE district has been invited to “An Evening with Wayne Bennett”.

The three ladies of the Black Dog Committee Liz Wood, Mary Carrigan and Mary Woods say it’s thanks to the support of Peter Sullivan, the Goondi-windi Rugby League Club, Rotary, ICPA, the PCYC and the Red Cross that such a great evening is in store when Tie Up the Black Dog Committee hosts the dinner on November 27

“Apart from having one of Australia’s most prominent coaches as our guest, it just fills your heart with pride to see such wonderful community support for this event”, said Liz Wood this week.

“We are also proud to be able to announce that through Peter Sullivan’s contacts with FOGS (Former State of Origin Greats—a not-for-profit charity supported by some of the greats of Rugby League) we will be able to have a charity auction of Rugby League memorabilia, including a framed, signed team jersey from the current Kangaroos Four Nations tour,” she said.

Peter Rookas, well-known sporting commentator and broadcaster, will be MC for the evening, thanks to the support of Fosters.

“We hope everyone will buy their tickets during the next 10 days – we really need an idea of how many to cater for -we’re expecting a capacity house and you wouldn’t want to miss this great night,” Liz said.

“Tie Up the Black Dog Committee has several other interesting speakers lined up to come to Goondiwindi throughout 2010—our evening with Wayne Bennett will be our major fundraiser to enable us to continue to provide high quality speakers across a range of topics—men’s and women’s health, parenting, adolescent behaviour, and of course our primary objective—to increase knowledge and awareness of mental health issues in our community. So come along and have a good night and help support us.”
